Diarrheal Occurence
THE CORRELATION BETWEEN THE HABIT OF HAND WASHING WITH
SOAP AND THE DIARRHEAL OCCURRENCE ON PRE SCHOOL CHILDREN
Background of the Study: The
diarrheal occurrence is an unhealthy condition because it is signed by
defecating in the form of liquid and often in a big quantity of
occurrence. Diarrhea occurs every year
in average on children in Indonesia. The
pattern of healthy habit on preschool children becomes the most effective
health intervention against the prevention of disease. The impact of the
diarrheal occurrence on preschool children can disturb the adequate body
function such as hypovolemic shock dehydration,
hypocalemia, convulsions, malnutrition and hypoglycemia.
Aim Of Study: This
research was conducted to identify correlation between the habit of the hand washing with soap and the diarrhea occurrence
on preschool children in village unit 10 Pandowan Borosot Galur Kulon Progo.
Research Methodology: It
applied quantitative method of survey analytics with the retrospective time
approach. The respondents in this research were 32 people with the research
subject of 3-6 year old children. This research was conducted in October 2010
up to January 2011.
The Research Result: There
is no correlation between the habit of the hand washing with soap and the
diarrhea occurrence on preschool children which was shown with the r value of
0,007 which is smaller than r table of 3,841.
Conclusion and Suggestion:
In the research which was conducted by the researcher with preschool children
as the subject, significant correlation was not found. The suggestion from the
researcher for next researchers is that they can conduct the research on
diarrhea occurrence related to the defecating existence and environment
sanitation problems through direct observation method by taking wider areas and
greater number of research subjects so as to result in more maximum research.
